• Inhibition of Mitophagy via Loss of Ataxia Gene Vps13D in Drosophila Neurons

A MAPS X Neuroscience Collaborated Event

  • About the NIC

The Neuroscience Interdisciplinary Council at Eastern Michigan University (NIC at EMU) is a student-run academic organization whose primary goal is to raise awareness for EMU's Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Major! It is the goal of the NIC to not only provide Learning Beyond the Classroom (LBC) experiences in the form of interactive guest speakers and hands-on brain dissections, but to also instill a passion for neuroscience as an exciting, emerging field.

    About The Speaker

Meet Ryan Insolera, a Post-Doctoral Fellow (PDF) at the University of Michigan's very own Collins Lab of Molecular Cellular and Developmental Biology (MCDB.) As a UMich undergraduate and Cornell PhD in Neuroscience, Insolera is no stranger to the game. His interests and research led him to the Collins Lab, which is deeply centered on the genetics and morphology of the common fruitfly. Insolera is currently pursuing the developmental biology and genetics of D. melanogaster, as a means of using fruit-flies as a model organism to better understand human pathology.

    A MAPS X Neuroscience Lecture

    Tuesday, November 27th, 2018

Strong Science Language Use is Frequent

This is a fairly review- based presentation of post-graduate level research. A basic understanding of cellular biology and genetics is to the listener's benefit.

  • Objectives of MAPS X

MAPS X is an inclusive conversation open to all.
